Law Enforcement seeking information in fatal crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a one-vehicle auto-pedestrian fatality crash that occurred on Friday, Jan. 15, at 9:12 p.m., on IH-37 one mile north of Corpus Christi in San Patricio County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a one-vehicle auto-pedestrian fatality crash that occurred on Friday, Jan. 15, at 9:12 p.m., on IH-37 one mile north of Corpus Christi in San Patricio County. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that a male driver of a vehicle struck the guard rail along the northbound lane of IH-37. The driver exited his vehicle for an unknown reason and walked into the unlit portion of the northbound lane of travel. 

A driver of a Chevy Tahoe and two passengers were traveling north on IH-37 and did not see the male pedestrian and struck him, according to the press release.

The male pedestrian was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi. 

Israel Perez Jr., 30 years of age, male, resident of Robstown was the pedestrian pronounced deceased at Spohn Shoreline later that evening on Jan 15. 

DPS Troopers are further investigating the crash.
