Calallen ISD Celebrating 10 Years of Giving: Here's what to know.

Nueces Country Record Star

In 2011, the Calallen Education Foundation visited campuses across the Calallen ISD and delivered the very first set of grants to teachers for their innovative and creative ideas to deliver inspiring lessons and learning in the classrooms. Since that time, local businesses and the community have donated nearly $500,000 to support innovative education within Calallen ISD. Those dollars are donated to the Calallen Education Foundation and grants are awarded to teachers that apply for grants to assist them in their daily innovative work with our children.

2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of those original grants being awarded and on Thursday, February 25 the Calallen Education Foundation will be hosting a 10 Years of Giving Virtual Celebration and Fundraising Event on Calallen TV.

The 10 Years of Giving Virtual Celebration will take place in the Calallen TV studio and be live-streamed on the Calallen TV YouTube Channel. Viewers can expect musical performances by: Nathan Carlisle – Calallen Alum and two time Grammy Winner, El Dusty – Calallen Alum and Latin Grammy Nominee, Calallen Steel Band – the only steel band south of San Antonio and Zariel Rivas – Calallen student and All-State Choir member.

In addition to the musical talent of Calallen, the audience will see and hear from some of the grant winners and their students from the past 10 years. Of course, no celebration happens without prizes. Viewers will have chances to win prizes throughout the event.
