Grant is part of a larger $2M donation to nonprofits across the state

Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, today announced a donation of $50,000 in grant funding for nonprofit organizations in Corpus Christi that are vital to COVID-19 relief and recovery. Texas Mutual is donating $25,000 each to two nonprofits in the Corpus Christi area, Catholic Charities and the Coastal Bend Food Bank, that are on the front lines of local COVID-19 efforts. The donation is part of the company’s larger $2 million commitment to nonprofits across the state.

An important goal of Texas Mutual’s community program, TXM for Texas, is to empower the communities across the state where its policyholders live and work. These grants will help ensure those individuals with the most need in Corpus Christi and across the state are served during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn.

As a result of COVID-19, many businesses in Corpus Christi may be struggling and may not have the means to support their local nonprofits as usual. Texas Mutual is stepping in to bridge that gap by offering financial assistance to the local organizations who need it most, so they can continue providing crucial services to the community.

"Our mission of creating a stronger, safer Texas is more important now than it ever has been,” said Rich Gergasko, president and CEO of Texas Mutual. “Texas is blessed to have a multitude of nonprofits doing difficult and necessary work to care for our communities. Partnering with them to take care of Texans is an honor. Our hope is that this donation will help them retain staff, provide resources and give the help many Texans need right now."

Supporting these nonprofit organizations is a crucial part of the company’s effort to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on Texas employers and employees.
