Coastal Bend Community Foundation announces second drive-thru distribution of COVID-19 supplies

Coastal Bend Community Foundation (CBCF) announces a second distribution of COVID-19 supplies to the community through the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund. Almost 500 bags filled with two cloth face masks and a hand sanitizer will be distributed on Friday, August 21 at 7:00am or while supplies last at each of four nonprofit medical locations on a first come first served drive-thru basis. One bag per vehicle will be distributed. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicle, and open trunk for contactless bag placement.

Over 75 individuals and entities have contributed almost $500,000 to the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund, which distributes grants to local nonprofits to support the increased need for housing, food, medical and childcare assistance as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The first drive-thru distribution in July was a such a success, Coastal Bend Community Foundation and Mayor McComb wanted to be able to offer the opportunity again for those residents who were not able to receive a bag that day,” said Karen Selim, CBCF President & CEO. “These supplies with help protect many lives in the Coastal Bend.”
