Wednesday is the last day of warm weather before a cold front pushes through South Texas, the National Weather Service says.

The cold front is expected to pass the Victoria area Tuesday night and will make its way down to the Corpus Christi area through the week.

An artic airmass is forecast to bring freezing conditions in the area over the weekend.

It’s too early to predict the exact timing of the cold front in the area, the weather service said in an advisory.

The front will bring chances of rain from Wednesday through Thursday night. Scattered showers are expected Thursday with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, the weather service said.

Cool and breezy conditions are expected Friday before rain chances return over the weekend.

An artic airmass is forecast to bring freezing conditions in the area over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to be in the 20s to mid-30s.

Wind chill advisories may be possible as the artic airmass passes through the Corpus Christi area. Light freezing rain will also be possible late Sunday night into early Monday morning, the weather service said.
