Dead man discovered near railroad tracks in Agua Dulce was Mexican immigrant
The body of a Mexican immigrant was discovered Tuesday afternoon near railroad tracks in Agua Dulce.
Agua Dulce City Marshal Rene Martinez said the city received a call around 2 p.m. that a worker was trimming the grass near the tracks when he noticed a pair of boots in the brush.
He stopped cutting and found the body of a man in his 30s.
Martinez said the man appeared to have been dead for three to four weeks and was severely decomposed. Officials believe they've identified him and are working to notify his family.
His identity has not yet been released.
Martinez said his death appears to be an unintended, accidental death. His cause of death is pending autopsy.
"Lately we've been having a lot of issues with immigrants on the train tracks," Martinez said.
A week ago, the Agua Dulce Marshal's office, Robstown Police Department and U.S. Border Patrol Agents detained and apprehended several immigrants from Mexico and South America that were on a train near Banquete.
Martinez said some of them were injured from falling off the moving train.
